Pilot Hat - Top off Your CostumeEvery year people struggle with what they are going to be for Halloween, it seems to be a holdover from when they were a kid. Making the decision about your costume is very important as you need to decide long before Halloween or you just may find that the costume you want is no longer available. Every year there are certain costumes that sell out and pilot costumes for both male and female sell out quickly. Not only do the costumes go quickly, but so do the accessories. If you want a pilot hat to go with your pilot costume you had better order it at the same time or you may find yourself out of luck.
What about that Hat?Why is it that everyone seems to think that if you do not have the airline pilot hat to go with your costume that it is not complete? After all most costumes use a mask to complete the image or nothing at all to complete the picture so why fuss about a simple hat? While it is true that a great number of costumes do indeed rely on some form of mask or make up as the last detail, the pilot hat is a part of the uniform and if you are going to wear a uniform, even as a Halloween costume, you should do your best to get it right. On top of this there is something about the way you wear a pilot hat costume or otherwise that sets it off and in many cases gives you that rakish, sexy look that drives the opposite sex wild. What looks better to a woman than a handsome pilot in his uniform with his hat tipped back at a jaunty angle as he walks through the party? What Kind of Hat?Depending on the type of pilot you are dressing up as you have several different choices. If your costume is from the pioneering day you might want to take a close look at our aviator hat, when paired up with a pair of aviator goggles you will look like a World War I fighter pilot off to chase down the Red Baron. The modern fighter pilot is most likely going to wear a simple ball cap with his call sign or military unit on the crown, you can emulate this by giving yourself a call sign and painting it on the front of your hat. Or you can stick with the hat that comes with our armed forces pilot costume, either one works fine you just need a cap to finish the costume off. The pilot hat that you will see most often is the one civilian airline pilots wear. This is a cloth peaked cap with a stiff bill. On the top of the bill you will see plenty of gold or yellow scrollwork, usually more for the captain than the co-pilot and on the front a set of wings that denotes the fact that the wearer is indeed a pilot.
